Monday, 18 December 2017 9:43 pmCrispin Odey is falling in with the hedgies at Polygon by calling for a higher offer from 21st Century Fox or its new owner - the Walt Disney Company. Ben Martin, a former colleague from my time at The Daily Telegraph and now a reporter at Reuters, managed to get the old buffer to talk about it on the record today. I have pasted Ben's piece below in case you missed it.
Monday, 06 November 2017 9:11 pmCNBC's David Faber landed a great scoop today about Walt Disney's recent deal talks with 21st Century Fox. I wonder, though, whether Faber will be subject to the same underhand smear tactics that Disney's London-based PR firm used when Betaville wrote a story about Walt Disney's interest in buying Twitter last year.
Wednesday, 21 December 2016 10:44 pmSo, for what's it worth one of my original sources on the Twitter/Walt Disney story reckons this talks could be rekindled in 2017. Keep an eye on, then, your Twitter feed for any any news on, er, Twitter in 2017...
Thursday, 01 December 2016 4:48 pmIt would appear some people in the echo chamber on the other side of the pond either don't "get" Betaville. This is particularly evident with aspects of my recent Twitter stories, which are being mis-represented on Twitter (I realise there are many ironies here). Either that or there are some scallywags trying to deliberately mis-quote Betaville in markets for their own ends.
Thursday, 01 December 2016 8:15 amLittle old Betaville's has had a lot of enquiries from readers about where the Twitter auction has got to since I wrote about it a month ago in a RARE Alert. And this week's news that Twitter will stream Walt Disney's "never before seen content" Stars Wars content has really got readers scratching their heads about the sale process. Here is a link to the announcement:
Tuesday, 25 October 2016 11:03 pmIt's a pretty simple tale: Walt Disney Co is said to be closing in on a takeover of social networking site Twitter after both companies agreed on takeout price late last week.
